What is a temporary email address?
A temporary (disposable) email address is a free, automatically generated inbox that you can use whenever sharing your real email address is risky or simply unnecessary: signing up for forums, downloading files, entering giveaways, trying online shops or chatting on community sites.
The address works for a limited time and is deleted automatically when that time is over, together with every message it received. No registration, password or personal data is required.
How is it different from a normal email address?
You can receive exactly the same messages with a temporary address as with a regular one. The differences are:
- A regular address is permanent; a temporary address is only valid for a set period.
- A regular account asks for your name, phone number and password; a temporary address asks for nothing.
- You choose a regular address yourself; a temporary address is generated for you in seconds.
Why use a temporary email address?
Your email address has become part of your identity online. Every site you sign up to may keep sending newsletters, campaigns and spam for years, and some of those messages can be phishing attempts that put your accounts at risk.
- It keeps your personal inbox clean and free of spam.
- It protects your real address and personal data from leaks.
- It takes seconds: no sign-up and no password.
Use your recovery key to come back to the same address later, and extend its lifetime whenever you need more time.
